Townville Infants' School

Key information about our class...

Welcome to R1S

The Teacher in R1S is Mrs Senior and the Teaching Assistant is Miss Horsfield

We are a mixed Reception and Year 1 class.

On Tuesdays and Wednesdays Ms Godber will also be working with the class.

Reading Books

*Please note that children could read on any day of the week*

Reading books need to be kept in the children's book bags and returned to school daily. Please upload to Marvelous Me each time that you read with your child at home in order for them to move up the 100 Reads ladder and achieve certificates for their achievements. In R1S we strive to read 5 times or more a week at home, badges will be rewarded on MME for those children who achieve this. (Top Tip: A good routine can ensure you achieve this together)

Our P.E day is Monday and Wednesday

Children should come to school in their uniform on P.E days and will change at school.

Townville's P.E kit consists of black shorts (these need to be tight fitting) and a plain white t-shirt. P.E kits can be kept in suitable bags on the children's pegs until half term when we will send them home to be washed.

Currently, we will be learning about key skills in Gymnastics, this could be in or outdoor so trainers will need to be included with their kit. Pumps are not necessary, this is a personal choice.

Year 1's Homework Books

These children will receive a homework book which will contain multiple tasks for them to complete in their own time. These do not need to be returned to school daily. They can be returned if completed or I will send a Marvelous Me when I require them handing in.

Spellings - Both Reception and Year 1

These will be sent home each Monday and the children will be tested the following Monday. Please make sure you practice these with your child each week. Your child's score from the previous test will be written on their new sheet. If they did not score well in the previous week you may want to revisit these as well in order help your child moving forward.

Below is a list of the Year 1 common exception words: words they are expected to be able to read and spell by the end of the year.
