Welcome to R1B
The Teacher in R1B is Mrs Bentley and the Teaching Assistant is Mrs Wray
We are a mixed Reception and Year 1 class.
On Tuesdays Ms Godber will also be working with the class.
*Please note that children could read on any day of the week*
Reading books need to be kept in the children's book bags and returned to school daily.
Please upload to Marvelous Me each time that you read with your child at home in order for them to move up the 100 Reads ladder and achieve certificates for their achievements. In R1B we strive to read 5 times or more a week at home, badges will be rewarded on MME for those children who achieve this. (Top Tip: A good routine can ensure you achieve this together)
Our P.E day is Monday and Wednesday
Children should come to school in their uniform on P.E days and will change at school.
Townville's P.E kit consists of black shorts (these need to be tight fitting) and a plain white t-shirt. P.E kits can be kept in suitable bags on the children's pegs until half term when we will send them home to be washed.
As the weather becomes better, PE could be outdoors so trainers will need to be included with their kit.
Pumps are not necessary, this is a personal choice.
Reception Children will take part in some Forest Schools sessions with a member of staff and Siobhan from Treetops Forest Schools. These are mainly on a Monday afternoon for 1 hour at a time. On the day that your child is taking part in forest schools they may come in their forest school clothing instead of school uniform with their wellies in a bag.
If you are struggling to get any specific pieces of kit please let us know in advance and we may be able to lend you some.
Year 1's Homework Books
These children will receive a homework book which will contain multiple tasks for them to complete in their own time. These do not need to be returned to school daily. They can be returned if completed or I will send a Marvelous Me when I require them handing in.
Spellings - Year 1
These will be sent home each Friday and the children will be tested the following Friday. Please make sure you practice these with your child each week. Your child's score from the previous test will be written on their new sheet. If they did not score well in the previous week you may want to revisit these as well in order help your child moving forward.
Below is a list of the Year 1 common exception words: words they are expected to be able to read and spell by the end of the year.
Phonics - Year 1 children will sit their phonics screening test in June. Please continue to practice their phonics sounds, reading real and nonsense words, sounding out and blending. The pass mark has previously been 32 out of 40. Your child's score will be reported to you in their end of year report. If you would like any further resources or support with this please ask.
Below are some lists of words you can practice with your child in preparation.
