This half term, we will have outdoor PE on Friday afternoons. Please ensure that your child has their indoor and outdoor PE kit in school all week.
Welcome to our class web page.
On this page you will find information about the exciting adventures that take place in our class.
The adults in our class are Miss Clapison and Mrs Hand, who is every morning from Tuesday to Friday.
The children will also see Mrs Senior, Mrs Milner, Mrs Rogers and Mrs Bradley on a daily basis.
We are all here to support you and your children, so please feel free to talk to us about any issues that may arise.
Thank you for your ongoing support!
WOW! What a fantastic day we all had at our Literacy Festival. The children enjoyed making monsters with Miss Tycal, having a go at being illustrators, creating art work to accompany stories and using music, movement and drama to create sea creatures. We also enjoyed a theatre production of Goldilocks and the Three Bears.
Most of the activities took place outside and the weather was glorious!
Here are some pictures of the fun we had:
The Great Outdoors:
Despite the awful weather, the children have still enjoyed having access to our outdoor area this week.
Here are some pictures of the learning going on in the fabulous outdoors.
"Look at our raspberry harvest!"
After weeks of answering "NO" when the children asked "Are they ready?" I was finally able to answer, "YES" today.
The children were so excited when they announced that they had picked a raspberry harvest.
We cleaned the fruits and the children had them for their snack this morning.
You can't get much fresher than that! Delicious!
Building on the children's interests:
The day began with a box of old CDs, kindly donated by a parent. The children were fascinated by them and crowded around the box to see the shiny round discs. They noticed that if you hold them in the sunlight, you can see the colours of the rainbow and they began trying to hang them in the windows of the classroom to catch the sun's rays. Team work was needed to hold the string whilst cutting the sellotape and the children worked together to decide where would catch the most sun.
Conversation soon turned to the patterns on the covers and they began reading the names of the songs and artists.
"What does this music sound like"? they asked. Let's find out! And so we did!
Over the course of the morning, the children listened to 80s funk, Soul, 70s disco, and their favourite, Love songs!
They had a great time making the classroom look beautiful and dancing to music they had never heard of before.
May 2019: Ledston Estate
We had a fantastic time at Ledston Estate. Thankfully, the weather was good and we were able to explore the woodland area.
The children enjoyed learning about the life cycle of trees and hunting for mini beasts. They also built dens for their pebble people, in the woods.
Here are some photographs from our trip.
We all had a great time at our Easter family learning event. Here are some pictures of our class taking part. Thank you to those of you who came and joined in the fun!
SPRING TERM 1: 2019
Wow! What a busy half term we have had, and what a lot of fantastic learning has taken place.
The children continue to be fascinated by Story Telling. The progress in their use of story language and sentence structure since Autumn term is phenomenal and they are writing increasingly more of their stories independently now. Wow!
In Maths, we have focused our attention to Numberblocks this half term, which the children absolutely love!
If you haven't come across it then please take a look. I have added a link to the bottom of this page but it is also available on BBCiplayer and Youtube. It really is a fantastic tool for deepening children's understanding of numbers and how they fit together.
Please take a look at some of the learning that's been taking place in class RC this half term.
Show us your dance moves!
After reading the story, Giraffes Can't Dance, the children were keen to learn about the different styles of dance mentioned in the story. How brilliant that several of the children wanted to have a go for themselves afterwards.
Some were more keen than others! See for yourselves...
We love the library!
What a fantastic trip to the library! If you haven't yet had the chance to take your child to Airedale library, I highly recommend it. There are lots of activities there for the whole family to enjoy and it's FREE to join. What's not to love?
As always, a massive thank you to those who walk with us to the library. We couldn't do these trips without you!
Here are some pictures from our trip...
Bring back our princesses!
Something very exciting has happened this week in class RC.
We received a letter from the evil goblin king, saying that he has kidnapped our princesses.
This has sparked lots of imaginative role play and story telling. Some of the children have even written letters to ask for the princesses back. Today we made Missing posters to put up around school.
I hope that we have done enough to get them back!!
Chinese New Year:
The children have been fascinated learning about the Chinese New Year.
We have learned a song in Mandarin called "Happy New Year" and the children have performed it in class.
We have made dragons and scary dragon masks, and we have learned how Chinese New Year is celebrated in China.
Some of the children have enjoyed using role play and small world characters to tell the story of the Chinese New Year.
Happy New Year everyone!
I hope that you all had a happy Christmas and managed to get some much deserved rest and relaxation.
I am so pleased to see the children settle back into the school routine so quickly.
We have a fun packed term ahead of us. As always, I will keep you updated via our webpage and on Twitter.
Please do not hesitate in contacting me if you have any questions.
Thank you for your on-going support.
The children were amazed to see a Gruffalo Cave in our classroom when they arrived back after the Christmas holidays! They have had great fun making shadows with torches and have even tried to build their own Gruffalo Cave outside.
We had an amazing time at our Christmas disco today!
Here are some pictures of our festive moves!
We love Christmas!
Christmas is nearly here and we are all VERY excited!
Santa's workshop came to Class RC today and we all had great fun helping Santa wrap his presents.
It was also Christmas dinner day! Complete with crackers and sprouts!!
SPONSORED RUGBY EVENT:
We all had a great time at our Sponsored Rugby event!
I think we've got some budding Sportsmen and women in Class RC!
Autumn Term Open Classroom:
Thank you to all Parents, Carers and Grandparents who came along to our open afternoon. I hope that you gained an insight into how we teach phonics in school and went away with some ideas on how to support your children at home.
I hope that you all had fun too!
What an exciting week!
We have had a great week in RC.
Firstly we all wore odd socks to school to celebrate our differences, then we took part in an anti-bullying workshop. We learned to say NO to bullying and had lots of fun singing and dancing.
We also got to wear our pyjamas for Children in Need.
Here are some pictures from our week.
Halloween Family Fun Night!
Thank you to all of you who came to our Family Fun night. The event was a great success and everyone had lots of spooky fun.
Here are some pictures of the event:
Best of British day!
We had a very important visitor for our Best of British day.
The children loved making crowns and building towers and castles for her majesty. They even cooked up a right royal feast in the mud kitchen!
We also enjoyed learning about things that make us 'British.'
Things to remember:
We have PE on Wednesdays. Please ensure that your child's PE kit stays in school all week.
On Tuesday, your child will get the chance to change their library book, if they wish.
Please ensure their library book is returned to school in order for them to change it.
Settling in: Autumn term 1
I am delighted to see how well the children have settled into full time education.
We have been spending time making positive relationships and getting used to the daily routines.
Here are some pictures of our adventures so far.
